Meet The Vindits, Chicago’s next favorite pop combo.
The Vindits formed in 2007, taking their cues from a handful of earnest lo-fi indie trail blazers - Sebadoh, The Minutemen, Uncle Tupelo, The White Stripes - who made their mark writing catchy rock songs dripping with cool, dirty guitar licks and dynamic hooks. The Vindits sound good at any speed: loud like a car crash, or soft like a dimly-lit barroom make-out while “Crimson & Clover” plays on the jukebox.
The band is the brainchild of Matthew Lane and Kyle Peterson, who have been writing songs together since early 2006. Eager to get their songs on tape, they recorded The Beagle EP in the summer of 2007. The four songs hint at a dynamic two-guitar attack that would continue to take shape with the addition of a permanent rhythm section, featuring Janis Sayer on drums and Paul Meister on bass.
The Vindits remain a work in progress, producing songs that alternate between slick and sloppy , beautiful and ugly.
