Sacred Space is a CD which contains eight hit songs. The lyrics are rich; Rabbi Praver’s voice is off the charts amazing and yet he doesn’t over sing. Praver effectively utilizes a wide range of colors and attitude. Beth Styles besides being Praver’s co-writer and Producer adds very smooth background vocals. It’s very clever the way Praver and Styles take spiritual ideas rooted in Judaism and make them Universally accessible. The title track, “Sacred Space” is very uplifting and describes a spiritual journey every person can relate to. “Love can win the day” has a great message wrapped up in a truly great song. It’s lyric, “In a blink of an eye the world can see what was hidden to all humanity… I know love can win the day” is a really nice thought; and it’s nice to hear a traditional rabbi singing in English about Love and world peace so passionately. “God’s Glory” is a wonderful depiction of finding God’s glory in nature throughout the Four seasons. It’s a gorgeous ballet. “Brand New day” sounds a bit Van Morrison-esk and is filled with bubbling energy of a person that wants to bust out of the box and follow his creative dreams. “Shalom” starts out lyrically rich, a bit lamentful and just when your guard is down it knocks you out with a magnificent chorus, “shalom!” ---it’s an extraordinary song. D’ror Yikra is a Yemenite folk song done up with a lot of kick. Praver’s Mizrahi style violin playing is enchanting and totally rocks this song to incredible heights. Even if you don’t understand a word of Hebrew, D’ror Yikra will move you by its sheer drive. "Al Hanism," is in reggae style, but Praver sings it in his own natural accent. Don’t be thrown off by the title, which means, “For the Miracles” most of the song is done in English. This song totally cooks and Praver keeps cranking it up a notch... “If I could be God” is a ballet and is sort of like a spiritual fantasy; Praver tells you what he’d do if he was God. His message is really positive and is expressed with a great deal of love and passion. Praver sings all these songs like he means it. I am sure Rabbi Shaul Praver aka “Rabbi Rock” and his co-writer and producer, Beth Styles will be noticed by industry giants for “Sacred Space;” they’ve got to because these songs are that good. I give “Sacred Space” two very happy thumbs up!

Rabbi Shaul Marshall Praver
Biographical Sketch:
Rabbi Shaul Marshall Praver, born in Great Neck, New York graduated South Senior High School
in the class of 1978. At age 14, Praver, a natural singer, was at the Ponca City Indian reservation
making an offering of food for songs at the home of Albert Waters, the elder and chief. Praver brought the songs back to the east coast and formed a singing group, "the munchkins," that was the lead band {drum} in the Southern plains style music throughout the Eastcoast during the 1970''s. Praver''s group gathered and mastered the largest collection of Southern Plains Indian music in the world, and donated it to the Smithonian Institute where it is today.
Praver''s first trip to Israel was in 1981. Shortly thereafter, he stayed in Israel for a ten year stint of study in Four Yeshivot: Diaspora Yeshiva, Ohr Somayach, Torah Ohr, and a private course of study with Orthodox Rabbi Pinchus Sheinberg. Concurrently, Praver studied at the Israeli School of Cantorial Art and became a protege of Hazzan Naftali Herstik. Praver is an ordained Rabbi and Cantor, and holds a Bachelor''s Degree of Judaic Studies. Praver started pulpit work as both Cantor and Rabbi in 1990.
Since 2001, Praver has been the senior Rabbi with Congration Adath Israel of Newtown, Connecticut.
In the Fall of 2002 and concurrent with Praver''s work as Newtown''s only rabbi, he started a public access television show called Rabbi Rock. The show was staffed with a volenteer crew comprised of his post B''nai Mitzvah students and their parents. Today, Rabbi Rock airs in major U.S. population centers and is taking steps toward national synication.
In 2005, Praver was awarded Letter Write of the Year by CAMARA, and received much praise for his Op Ed article Zionism is Beautiful, which has been circulated internationally.
In July of 2008, Rabbi Praver released his first CD for
public distribution called Sacred Space. Praver is sitting
on a plethora of songs and compositions that he has sketched over the years which he is actively striving to produce and make available to the general public. Just when you think you heard all the stars-- Praver comes along and throws his shiney hat into the ring.
