Details:
Bill Haskell is a Stratocaster guitarist and the whole CD was improvised -- written on the spot. He''s been playing guitar since he was 4 years old, and saw the Beatles at 6 -- which was a powerful influence. Bill graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in Music and Teacher Education. He''s worked as a guitar tech for major acts including: Cheap Trick, Eddie VanHalen, Shania Twain, Cher, Godsmack, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Slipknot, Korn, Willie Nelson and Keith Urban.
On Track 7, "Brake Time," Bill plays the majority of the lead guitar part with his teeth and between his legs, a technique he learned from Jimi Hendrix starting at age 17.
On Track 10, "Anything Goes," the structure and style is influenced by Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yungve Malmsteen.
Among Bill''s other influences are Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robin Trower, Ernie Isley, Paul Kosoff, and Pete Townshend.
Here''s how Bill describes his album University Parkway:
"University Parkway is what I did because I like Carlos Santana and Billy Gibbons -- I combined those two structures and styles of improvising, and yet me being me -- I improvised my own licks. Night Vision is in the key of Eb which is what Jimi Hendrix played in a lot and Frank Moreno of Rush. I was stealing as many guitar licks off of them as I could since the 60s and 70s."
