J''s verbal arsenal, catchy hooks, and artistic repertoire show the depth of his musical roots, and with his new release he offers listeners a fresh blend of East Coast lyricism mixed with the laid-back melodic sounds of Southern California. His bicoastal style is apparent in the music he creates, with tracks drenched in guitars, synths, digital drums, up-tempo rhyme patterns, and catchy R+B choruses. His vocal range has been compared to the likes of Nate Dogg and Everlast, his flow similar to that of Dipset, and his production reminiscent of Dr. Dre and the Roots.
From the smoothed out beachy rhythms of ''Ride With Me", to the club jam "Get To Know You", to the soulful, catchy vocal stylings of "Someone I''ll Always Love", J sings/raps his way directly into the hearts of his female audience, while still dropping lyrical hard-hitters for the fellas with "Put Your Hands Up" and "Cali Shine". With the closing track "Only The Strong", J breathes new life into the now-defunct post-rapcore era, and further pushes the musical envelope with genre-blending tracks "1,2,3" and "Music Is Life".
