Telemetry’s Lemon Tree EP begins with singer/songwriter Ian Rasmussen telling a story of inner demons in "Fearful Monster," an upbeat tune woven with complicated harmonies. Lemon Tree EP is the groups first release and shifts gears with virtually every track carrying a rhythm of its own laced with pleasant moments that solidly convey a strong songwriting hand and distinctly echo statements regarding authority, materialism, and self-discovery; however, the songs are as poetic and artful as they are sentimental and political. Rasmussen’s intense vocal delivery and driving guitar make his harmonies and song structure intriguing, particularly on the song “Wait in line”. Although Telemetry manages to work up plenty of energy on the EP, the final tune, “New Born Sun” is just one of the album''s highlights, revealing hushed melodies that showcase Telemetry’s mature song craft.
