The Red Orchestra is the latest collaboration of artists Ian Sky and Cody S. Heichel. After years of performing in various local rock bands together, the duo decided to venture into a project drawing from the influence of acts such as Depeche Mode, Frou Frou and Björk.
The group’s self-produced debut album “Streetlamps & Starlight” is an eclectic mix of driving rock-influenced numbers (“Every Word You Didn’t Mean,” “Breathe In Breathe Out”), somber chill tunes (“Down To The Letter,” “Shut Eye”) and brooding anthems (“Charisma”). The disc is centered in emotional honesty and focused heavily in storytelling. Coupled with the duo’s multi-media live presentation, The Red Orchestra thrives in its desire to conquer monotony through varied forms of expression.
