The past, if you''d like to know:
James Kinne began life in New York City, born on the upper west side. His interest in music was apparent from the very beginning. By the time he was 2 years old, his parents had bought him a toy drum set in an effort to save their pots & pans in the kitchen from his never-ending bashing. Before James hit the age of 10, he had a real drum set and was practicing all the time. He was on the New Jersey club circuit by his teenage years playing shows throughout the state.
In his first year of college, James met up with a band called Angry Salad. The singer casually mentioned to James that they were auditioning bass players. Long story short, James got the slot, learned & bought a bass, an amp, and a car, took time off of school, and moved to Boston from New Jersey. Then they toured for the better part of 8 years on & off with the likes of, The Barenaked Ladies, Counting Crows, Live, The Samples, Violent Femmes, Guster, and a trip for a string of shows in Shanghai China in 2002.
On his return to school, James formed a band that Spin Magazine called "The Best Unsigned Band" of the year - Chasing Gray. Their adventures landed them tours throughout the country, national television appearances, and shared stages with Tonic, Run-DMC, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy,(ironically) Angry Salad, among many others.
After Chasing Gray parted ways, James began his long awaited solo efforts. He recorded and released his first solo CD, "Between", to critical acclaim and positive fan response. He toured on this CD as a solo artist and with a full band. "A breath of fresh air... some of the best music I have heard in a very long time." - https://www.tradebit.com. But "Between" was just the beginning for James as a songwriter, an in-between period for him personally and as a musician.
Currently, James is in the studio recording the follow-up to "Between". It includes all new material, plus some old Chasing Gray songs revamped. To be continued...
