MP3 John Dehner & the Enthusiasts - Childhood Music
If a Canadian rock band played English folk songs in an American garage, it might sound like this. The debut record from Indiana songwriter John Dehner and his enthusiasts: rhythmic, literate, and rocking.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Roots Rock, FOLK: Modern Folk
Details:
John is a Bloomington, Indiana-based songwriter who has just released his debut album, Childhood Music. Recorded last summer at Farm Fresh Studios with his band, The Enthusiasts, the record is a fine example of the ragged blend of rock-and-roll, pop and folk music that he''s been making since the late eighties. Dehner and his three-piece electric band have enlisted a few friends and local luminaries to record Childhood Music, and now they''re eager to bring these hand-made songs to a wider audience.
Since the mid-1980''s, John has played his songs in nightclubs and bars, basements and barns, garages and coffeehouses and festivals, from streetcorners in Barcelona to stages in Bloomington.
As a longtime presence at the periphery of Bloomington''s original music scene, Dehner has carved out a sound that falls somewhere between slightly damaged folk music and fully remodeled garage rock. He''s played with a wide variety of local talents over the years, many of whom appear on the new record, and he''s taken the stage in support of visiting artists like Richard Buckner, Vic Chesnutt, Sheryl Crow, The Hangdogs and Thee Shams.
