This collection of fiddle tunes by Lewis Thomasson was recorded in Arlington, Texas in 1969 and 1971. I t is an important and rare glimpse into the roots of Texas-style contest fiddling. Unlike his younger brother Benny, who significantly changed his style and became a major influence in the development of Texas contest fiddling, Lewis decided to keep playing the old tunes of his family and friends the same way they did. Most of the tunes on this CD were learned by Lewis prior to 1920.
All of these songs are in the public domain. If you are a fiddle player, feel free to record any of these tunes. However, PLEASE CREDIT LEWIS THOMASSON (and Old Blue Records) AS THE SOURCE FOR YOUR VERSION.
