His theme song for the benefit, "Let The Baby Smell The Flowers," is timely for today and demonstrates the substance of his writing talents. Alfie Capers has an extensive background. He was trained at New York Academy of Theatrical Arts and Al Fann Black Ensemble. Born in New York City, Alfie started singing as a child at the age of 9. His father, a trumpeter, formed and managed a family group, "The Capers Quartet," which consisted of Alfie, his two sisters, and a brother. The group played countless shows with "the greats of yesterday," such as, The Drifters, The Supremes, and Jackie Wilson. His skills and disciplines include singing, acting, songwriting, and karate master.
