"If Jim Page ain''t the bastard son of Woody Guthrie I''m T-Bone Walker" -----------ROBERT HUNTER

Jim Page''s music is brilliantly showcased on this album, featuring many of Jim''s favorite Seattle musicians and produced by mutli-instrumentalist Orville Johnson. From the majestic title song to the rollicking good times, and everything in between, this album shows what can be done when great songs, great players, and a great producer all join forces. The results are stunning.

The players include Orville Johnson on acoustic and electric guitars, lap steel and mandolin, dobro and banjo, backing vocals and temple bell. Arne Livingston, bass. Dale Fanning, drums. Will Dowd, percussion. Grant Dermody, harmonica. Erin Corday, vocals and recorder. Don Pawlak, pedal steel. Tommy Creegan, uillean pipes. David Lange, organ and swishing things. Juan Barco, bajo sexto. Henry Castro, button accordion.

The styles are eclectic, and defy the easy categorizations. WHOSE WORLD IS THIS, is a question and a demand, and it floats with a power that you have to answer. By far the most ambitious piece in this collection, it is at once ancient and modern and will follow you even after the silence seems to have won. Then we will TAKE OUR CULTURE BACK, dancing as we go. RIGHTEOUS is a hemp anthem in a TexMex groove. SOUND OF A GUITAR, a tribute to Jerry Garcia, dances with to light quartet. TINA tells a poetic version of a story from the life of Jim''s old friend John Trudell.

RIGHT TO BE WRONG is spoken word rap addressed to young rappers and warning of the pitfalls --edgy and immediate. SHINY BRIGHT SILVER DOLLAR, about Jim''s grandfather, is the spare, almost solo memory of generations past. ICE SKATING ON THE FREMONT BRIDGE is a wonderful duet between Jim''s guitar and Grant Dermody''s harmonica - you can hear the bridge go up to its impossible drawbridge angle, with all the ice on it, and some fantastic ice skater doing the moves, gravity be damned!

PURITAN SEEDS is the acoustic eastern funk dance story of the Crusaders who haunt abortion clinics, killing for life. ONLY TALKIN'' ON THE RADIO is what the talk show hosts said after Oklahoma City, "you can''t blame me." STRANGER IN ME is feeling lost and knowing that you''re not alone, surrounded by shimmering bass lines and long alleyway guitar slides. NOW THAT I''M MISSING YOU MORE is just what it says it is, missing someone in the best way. BEAUTIFUL TEAR, the album''s closer, is the perfect jewel, the rain drop of loss. A gorgeous duet between Jim and Erin Corday, it paints the picture of the last goodbye to a friend, lost among so many others in the days of AIDS.

This album takes Jim Page''s songs and puts them where they need to be heard. In a career that spans 30 years, twelve countries, and fifteen recordings, this album stands out for the great rollicking joy of it. And for the question, Whose World Is This?

Jim Page is based in Seattle, Washington has been writing, touring and playing professionally for over 30 years. Jim has shared the stage with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, Bonnie Raitt, Christy Moore, Leftover Salmon, and loads more. Jim has fifteen full-length recordings to date and he tours the US and Ireland regularly.

"The best had to be when that wonderful folksinger Jim Page joined the mainstage outdoor closer Leftover Salmon. He strums a few chords to get them started and then they build the melody up. Jim starts to improvise lyrics... And all of Leftover Salmon is grinning ear-to-ear. I''ve seen 1500-plus concerts and that moment was as wonderful a band/audience connection as I''ve ever witnessed."
