"I Heart Elsewhere" is the second release from revivalist New-Wave artist Daryl Pierce. It juxtaposes the place where the grass is always greener with a dash of winning dreams, tainted by the feeling that we''re born to lose.
Originating from something of a wallflower and mad scientist combination the songs that Daryl writes have a touch of the voyeur. This can be heard particularly well in the opening song titled "Portal" which curses the freedom and trapdoors of expressing oneself in our online world.
Daryl Pierce is proud to live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It is a fine Canadian city that recently had it''s centennial year. The song "Grey Matter" was a late submission to the centennial song contest for the city, submitted for public appreciation one year after the winner was announced to be exact! It seems most people simultaneously love and hate the place where they live with such intense, conflicting passions. It did not win the contest...yet.
From diatribes against big-box convenience malls in "Suburbia" to the simple beauty and the beast story of "Comparison" to the "Graduated Lines" of the high school dance, this collection of songs looks unflinchingly in the face of the self-pride and self-loathing that make up our towns, our cities and ourselves.
