The Winnipeg singer/songwriter released ''Brave New World" in 2006. The album was produced by James Murdoch and Captain Tractor founder, Chris Wynters and also features electronic programming by former Watchmen and Thornley bassist Ken Tizzard.
''Brave New World'' charted at number 4 on CJSR''s Folk/Roots/Blues charts and is in active rotation on CKUA in Alberta. It has been featured on Jeff Goode''s program "Fresh Air" on CBC Radio One in Toronto and songs off the disc have been picked up by CBC radio stations nationwide. The album was also listed in the Manitoba Audio Recording Industry Association''s Music Release Highlights for 2006.
The standout track, ''When I Grow Up'', with its pots-and-pans rhythm section, was named Top 3 Song of 2006 by Edmonton Journal''s music editor, Sandra Sperounes and was recently included in the Winter 2008 issue of Vancouver arts magazine, One Cool Word.
A prairie girl at heart, Jody toured Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba after the album''s release. The Edmonton performance and interview footage were broadcast on City TV’s "In the City". She was also asked to be part of a panel of DIY musicians for the Access Media Group program, "Help TV". The episode played out across Canada on CHUM Television.
Jody has shared the stage with such Canadian mainstays as Veda Hille, Christine Fellows and Danny Michel. She performs as part of Vancouver based Mikey Manville''s (The Manvils) country collective and plays keys in the electro-pop band XCTBK.
Jody played to a full house at this year''s New Music West Festival in Vancouver. She plans for the next album due out in October, with Jesse Gander (The Hive, Ghost House) in the producer’s chair.
