Gioia''s time with Exposé was cut short when she began experiencing trouble with her voice while on tour. She was later diagnosed with a benign throat tumor which ultimately led to the complete loss of her voice. She was not able to speak for almost 3 years and was deemed disabled as a vocalist. Contrary to all medical opinions, by nothing short of a miracle, Gioia began to regain her voice and was finally able to sing again!
