V.O. Quartet is NOT a typical string quartet!
Barcelona-based The V.O. Quartet are not what you would call an ordinary string quartet; the four women combine classical training with folk, klezmer, gipsy, pop and jazz. This is coupled with a continuing interest and involvement in contemporary and classical music.
These different styles are combined to create a bewitching brew of frenetic fiddling, haunting string and vocal melodies and skilled musicianship. A must for fans of classical music with an edge.

V.O. Quartet is composed of 4 classically trained musicians, Naomi Wedman, Rebecca Macauley and Kirsten Tinkler (who met whilst playing together for a production of Shakespeare´s “Tempest” in 2003) and Frances Bartlett, who joined the group in October 2005.
Naomi Wedman, violin, is from Canada and has been involved in diverse musical projects from country music and pop to jazz and classical music.
Kirsten Tinkler is English and sings and plays the violin. She has composed music for many theatre projects as well as performing in theatre and cabaret groups.
Rebecca Macauley is from New Zealand and plays viola. Apart from classical music she is also very involved in Klezmer music from Eastern Europe. She performs in and is the musical director for the successful "Circus Klezmer."
Frances Bartlett is also English and plays the cello. She is very much involved in classical and contemporary music and performs widely with contemporary dance companies.
