MP3 Jodi Shaw - The Pie-Love Sky

Jodi''s distinctive voice is chracterized by a certain "delicate toughness" that endears her to the human ear. Her lyrics are intense and imaginative--Shawn Colvin meets Cat Power meets Cat Stevens . . .

BIO
Born in Newfoundland, Canada, after a brief stint as a graduate student in poetry, Jodi left academia and began transforming her highly coherent, lyrical poetry into songs. Her debut CD, "The Myth of Patience," was selected by Boston''s Metronome Magazine as one of its Top Five Album Picks for July, 2001.

On her second album, "The Pie-Love Sky," produced by Steve Addabbo (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin, Dar Williams), she continues to develop the distinctive sound that puts her in a class with few peers. While her songs often recall the quiet beauty and subtle-yet-visceral impact of Chan Marshall''s Cat Power, Jodi''s uncommonly pretty voice and straightforward delivery is comparable to vocalists like Edie Brickel, Suzanne Vega, Natalie Merchant and Heather Nova. The Pie-Love Sky delivers a strong acoustic blend of indie and folk with Jodi''s melodically intuitive style of guitar playing recalling that of the great Joni Mitchell.

Her third record, "Snow on Saturn" also produced by Steve Addabbo, is forthcoming Sept. 2005.
