Details:
Neal Hill, born in Leicester, England, began his musical journey in a garden shed on a drum kit bought with his pocket money. Inspired by his favourite bands to become the ultimate rock star, he began his rebellion by purchasing the instrument without informing his parents. At 13 he began learning some his favourite songs by his heroes and formed bands with friends who shared the same burning ambition to show off in front of strangers in venues across Leicestershire. Although none of these bands reached international stardom, Neal showed a hunger to perform and an ever growing desire to make music. By the age of 17, Neal had become a talented drummer, but he wanted more. A well timed council ban for noise pollution saw Neal branch out to guitar playing, buying his first acoustic axe from the local Argos. His guitar, which he calls Mavis, has helped him to become a talented songwriter and well rounded musician. Neal then went on to learn bass guitar, joining local bands to build his knowledge and understanding of each instrument. At 19 Neal moved to Guildford to study Contemporary Popular Music and it was there he honed his skills as a songwriter and began developing his singing voice and his vocal sound. Now 21 and reaching the end of his time as a student, Neal has recorded a solo album that details events in his life over his song writing years, and also showcases that there is still some honesty in music today. Drawing influences from his favourite bands such as Green Day, System of a Down, Nirvana, Muse and many bands he has seen on the live circuit, he created a solid hard rock album with catchy hooks and emotive storytelling. His songs are simple honest rock anthems that any person can relate to. Song likes ‘Actor In The Cast’ detailing university drug culture and peer pressure, to more emotive songs like ‘The Sacrifice’ explaining Neal’s fear of dying. And at the age of 21, Neal has many more songs to come over the years, but this album portrays youth culture, teen rebellion and political issues in our society in 45 minutes of pounding drums and driving guitar. If you’re waiting for a new rock sound to appear, this might just be it.
