Details:
John Cassel is pleased to announce the release of his latest CD, "Jade Lady" - recorded with Bobby Militello, William Gallison, Andre Maquera, Will Patton, Paul Asbel, Steve Weinert Dave Ellis, Mitch Mitchell, Skeeter, Camera, and Darius Brubeck.

The January 20, 2005 Stowe Reporter review comments, "On the opening track, Melon Moon, where Cassel sings, "In a while you''ll come round like you should/maybe I''ll come down to earth for good," the music moves along like any classic jazz standard."

Jade Lady teeters on brilliant. It''s a powerful concoction of lounge jazz, rollicking piano-based jazz rock and even showtune-esque classic standards. Cassel proves his mettle with a voice that carries a tune and lyrics that speak volumes of his wit and wisdom.

"But don''t think for one minute that Cassel is a one trick pony: take a listen to Dear Lisa, which incorporates elements of 1970s horn-infused soul and cavorting guitar riffage that is reminiscent of classic rock. It''s not conflicting with the rolling piano base either, as Cassel has obviously tempered the sound to be just right."

Jade Lady, while jazzy in nature, has such a unique identity that Cassel is a fine example of musical neurons firing randomly and hitting target effortlessly. A local musical treasure, both Cassel records are highly recommended.

A mainstay of Vermont''s lively music scene for over thirty years, versatility is one of Cassel''s greatest strengths, and in a typical evening he moves effortlessly and expertly through a repertoire ranging from Jerry Lee Lewis to Cole Porter to Duke Ellington to Fats Waller to Frederic Chopin. And, of course, there''s everything in between, including a wide selection of his own songs that blend poetry with refreshingly original rhythms.

John has appeared with many internationally known performers, including Bonnie Raitt, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Maynard Ferguson, and Dave Brubeck. Mostly, though, John plays where he has always been the most comfortable - in small clubs. You can catch his always-surprising show at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, Friday through Tuesday nights.
