ISSUES
Rehab (2008) is the first L.P. from CT''s up and coming recording artist Issues. It mixes street hardened shameless self glorification with the unlikely counterpart of self-destructiveness and dramatic story telling, all on top of a, to say the least, "cutting edge" arsenal of beats complete with samples from rock greats "Pink Floyd" and major movie classics such as "The Godfather."
The beats range from epic to playful, in-your-face to thought provoking, and the lyrics are never predictable or in accordance to the style of song. In a day and age where desensitization is commonplace, Issues "Rehab" is a deviously delightful dive back to the feeling we all had the first time we saw South Park and asked ourselves; "how the hell do they get away with this sh*t?" Well, who''s to say he will indeed "get away with this." In any case, he''s certainly doing a good job trying to show his life and world to his listeners, whether it ends with him on MTV Cribs or face down in a gutter or in the looney bin. (or in the gutter outside the looney bin after he got kicked out for making a slightly aggressive pass at the 300+ pound head nurse).
On a more serious note, the undertone of the album is a sad one, reflective of a troubled youth''s life in the tri-state area, struggling daily with drug abuse, constantly being up-rooted and the ever present qualm; "What does living in America mean?" Near brushes with death and second, and in some case third and fourth chances, have in fact brought Issues closer to life itself. He quotes "God and Music gave me Nu-Life," nomer of the CT.
