The Council was formed in the spring of 2006 by singer Jay Burns‚ keyboard/vocalist Sheri Young and guitarist/vocalist David Caissy.
The Council toured both eastern and western Canada before adding the standout rhythm section of Kent Macrae on drums and Joe Veltri on bass in the spring of 07.
The band has produced two demo E.P.s and recently released their debut album “Recover” which has sold over 600 copies in 6 weeks.
The Council plays an infectious brand of rock/pop that reflects the eclectic nature and vast experience of its five members. Influenced by bands like U2, Big Sugar and Bon Jovi (to name a few and not enough), the band is part polished rock and roll‚ part high energy jamming. With the new album in the works and a live show that is drawing bigger and louder audiences every time out, the Council is excited to take another step in the music industry.
Most recently, the Council won the X92.9FM sponsored OMS New Music Showcase in Calgary Alberta and is currently receiving airplay of the pre-released title track.
