Life Is Perfect is Nef Jones and Jimi K Bones first complete collaboration as JonesBones. The album was produced by engineer and friend Brian McGee (Rolling Stones, Cyndi Lauper, Monday Night Football).The CD has flavors ranging from artists like Liz Phair, Ramones, Green Day, early Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne and of course a whole lot of Nef and Jimi.
With Nef''s raw lyrics and catchy melodies and Jimi''s guitars and backing vocals, it feels as though the music jumps out and grabs you by the throat, as she screams "Wait just one minute that was my heart that you trampled on". But her rawness doesn''t limit itself to angst, as Nef turns her emotions into a slippery, sloppy, sex deliverance in Nothing New:"Waking up real slow, panties on backwards, heads about to explode". And there is humor, which she attributes to her partner Jimi in Life Is Perfect (When You''re Gone) and her signature song Alphabet City :"I was baptized on Avenue B, passing junkies on the street".
Nef is featured in the upcoming film documentary, Electric Purgatory, with music legends Fishbone, Vernon Reid, Bad Brains and Living Colour, which debuts August 16th at the Knitting Factory in New York. She is also currently appearing in a nationally seen Blockbuster TV commercial.
She has been featured on VH-1, was a top 50 finalist in the American Music Awards'' New Music Award contest, has performed at Lilith Fair, was nominated for Best Band of the Year by San Francisco Weekly, and recently opened up for Blondie at the Gibson Show Room.
Jimi Bones is currently musical director and guitarist for the New York City Rock Musical, "Penny 4 Eyes". He has also toured with Blondie, Joan Jett and Enrique Inglesias as well as providing lead guitar tracks on The View, Monday Night Football and Good Morning America.
Nef and Jimi are backed by drummer Aaron Brooks (Duff and Laura Dawn), Bret Bass-Bass (Enrique Inglesias, P-Funk) and Graham Tracy on rhythm guitar and backing vocals(Trans Siberia Orchestra).
