Karla Michelle''s singing experiences include live background vocals for artists such as Larnelle Harris, Yolanda Adams, Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, and Michael W. Smith. She has appeared in television and radio productions including live background vocals at the Country Music Association Awards and the Gospel Music Association Awards. Other career highlights include her being a Lead Vocalist for Nashville''s Channel 4 News commercial and being recognized for her music accomplishments in Parade Magazine.

Karla''s recent venues have included Isaac Hayes'' Music Food Passion, Memphis Originals, and Rhodes College. She recently laid background vocals for Crossway Worship Band''s new CD scheduled to be released this spring. She is a member of the Gospel Music Association and she is a BMI Singer and Songwriter.

High School Years
In high school, Karla garnered national exposure as the two-time Regional NAACP-ACTSO Vocalist Winner. Through this competition Karla was honored with the opportunity of training with Carla Thomas who had the hit "Gee Whiz". She was also named a Pepsi Challenge Winner by Memphis'' K-97 Radio Station before it switched to its hip hop format. As a member of her high school''s Advanced Choir, Karla captured the 2nd Chair for all 1st Altos in the state of Tennessee in classical music. When she wasn''t performing with her high school choir, she could be found rehearsing with Tan and the Violinettes'' One Accord Choir or recording an album with Calvin Palm and Friends. Throughout junior high and high school, Karla won many first and second place trophies for talent shows and she also advanced to the Mid-South Fair Finals.

The University Experience
As a first year student, Karla surprised the upperclassmen when she successfully auditioned for the world renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers. She had been warned that freshmen didn''t make it. She remained on her post for four years culminating in her being crowned Miss Fisk Jubilee Singer. There, her musical training included voice and theory classes. For Karla, all of her dreams came true when she starred in Fisk''s production of Dreamgirls which received rave reviews. One of Karla''s favorite memories is of meeting Yolanda Adams and having Willie Neal Johnson of the Gospel Keynotes tell her that she has a beautiful smile. While at Fisk, Karla formed an R&B group with 2 friends called JS3. They performed cover songs garnering much attention at Nashville talent revues.

Beyond Just Singing
Karla Michelle''s music ministry extends beyond singing to writing as well, co-writing all of the songs on the CD, "The Way I Feel". Fans have commented that Karla Michelle''s music is honest and unique.

Karla also served as Co-Producer on her project along with Bobby Manual, President of High Stacks Records. High Stacks is known for producing projects such as Billy Rivers & The Angelic Voices of Faith. Serving as Engineer was Terry Poindexter, who has produced The Gospel Gangstas. Other artists who lent their skills to the project include Kyle Beckwith, Brandon Alexander, Felica Williams, and Mansa Brown.

Active in ministry, Karla serves as a Praise and Worship Leader and a Song Leader in her church''s choir. She also serves as a Sunday School Teacher and she has served as the Music Director of the Youth Ministry of Performing Arts. Concerned with pursuing continuous education, she completed Praise and Worship and Spiritual Gifts classes at the Memphis Bible Institute.

Community Activist
As a Community Activist, Karla lends her voice to the nonprofit organization, Rebourne Strategies, where she sings for music festivals, churches, community centers, and other community events.

She is also the Founder of Healed Heart Ministries. Healed Heart Ministries is a nonprofit organization that offers counseling, biblical teaching, and mentoring and outreach programs. As the founder of Healed Heart, the Minister was recently recognized by Charming Shoppes, the parent company of Lane Bryant and Catherine''s, as one who has raised her voice to make a difference in her community.
