Details:
Audiences crave the adventure that Kate Callahan brings to live performance. Within an hour she explores the ancient world with her quartz crystal singing bowl, finger picks her way in and out of a high energy song about flying and shares a quirky waltz written for a set of dancing silverware. Kate balances humor and intensity with remarkable ease.

Her second album, "The Greatest of Ease" (Rarity Records, 2003) marks her achievement as a guitarist and songwriter. With immediate accolades from folk legend Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul & Mary) and acceptance into The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival''s emerging artists showcase and The International Festival of Arts and Ideas, "Ease" is setting the scene for Kate''s growing popularity.

The album tells stories of ghosts, tightrope walkers, angels, lovers, sobriety and childlike wisdom. These stories are road maps, paths and springboards for awareness, growth and happiness.

At the age of 19, Kate''s life was altered on a ski slope in southern Vermont. An accident resulted in the injury and damage of her brain. After two years of rehabilitation, Kate decided to take up the guitar so that her arms, hands and eyes would have good reason to regain their once agile functioning.

Music became a healing agent in Kate''s life. Her recovery and emergence back into life soared as she connected with the guitar. Songs came pouring out and at the age of 23 she composed, recorded, produced and released her first album, "The Influence of Red" (VendRed Records, 2001).

The Hartford Advocate voted Kate "Best Solo Performer of 2002." She has opened concerts for Judy Collins, Aztec Two-Step, Claudia Schmidt, Bill Morrissey, Erica Wheeler, Priscilla Herdman and Mustard''s Retreat. Kate is accompanied by percussionist and throat singer Damon Honeycutt. The two fuse elements of eastern and western folk tradition in a humorous, lively and utterly new way.

Kate makes her living solely through music and creative endeavors. She works as "Artist-in-Residence" in the school systems and travels as a performer and inspirational speaker.

Kate spent a year and a half crafting and recording "Ease" alongside producer Michael Deming. "Working with Mike was an honor and a challenge that I needed. With every project that Mike Deming takes on he sets out to be a part of creating an historically significant album. "
