Details:
Kate Cotter has been sharing her music as a singer/songwriter for the past ten years. Although she currently calls Nevada home, she first became known in the Pacific Northwest and has since shared her music throughout the United States, Eastern and Western Europe, and Honduras. Cotter recently spent two months touring with Seth Horan, Sol''Jibe and Rodney Branigan and has performed shows with John Gorka, Kerry Getz and Shana Morrison.

Kate''s acoustic style is often described as hauntingly beautiful with a deeply spiritual vein. Clearly her studies of philosophy and religion foster the insightful and introspective element of her lyrics while her domestic and international aid experiences lend themselves to humanity-related themes. She claims that she has been inspired since an early age to "strive to connect with other people on a level of true vulnerability."

Embracing a vocal style reminiscent at times of Joni Mitchell, sometimes compared to Sarah McLachlan, Cotter breaks from her classical training to express her songs with a mixture of pop and folk. Although predominantly acoustic guitar and vocals, her album "Point of Real" includes guest appearances by Erik Gothberg (bass guitars), Robert Gilmer (vocal harmonies, electric guitar), Jim Manson (electric guitar), Jack Young (drums), and Tim Snider (violin). As the eleven tracks on the album undoubtedly delve into the raw challenges and honest struggles that come with life and the human condition, the underlying message is one of hope. The bridge to one song offers: "Words between the other side, and only then we recognize/That we are held here by only time, with nothing but the will to find/Life, a record of our letting go, then wisdom comes and offers hope/of something not quite earthly, not quite such, that takes the place of emptiness."
