Details:
Captain’s Verses, a folk-rock band, was formed in late 2005 by native Iowans David Rogers (acoustic guitar and vocals), Tom Knapp (bass), and Paul Kresowik (drums). Before helping to form the band, Rogers established himself as a singer/songwriter by releasing a solo album and performing around Iowa and the Midwest. Through this work, Rogers received praise from influential Iowa songwriters including Greg Brown, Dave Moore, and Pieta Brown. As for the rhythm section, Knapp and Kresowik bring to Captain’s Verses their experience from being members in the Iowa City jazz and rock scene. In 2006, Chris Dimond joined Captain’s Verses as lead guitarist. Captain’s Verses blends acoustic sensitivity, rock momentum, and the spontaneity of jazz, while taking on themes of vanishing Iowa towns (Holbrook), family histories (live on), and world events (Pablo’s desk). Lyrically, Rogers weaves a thread through his upbringing in Iowa and his fascination with the unknown. In April 2008, Captain’s Verses released their debut, self-titled album. The 12-song recording project is supported, in part, by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. https://www.tradebit.com
