HADDOCK is a name you would not be surprised to see in a “fish market” or on a “menu”. You would however find it a bit unusual to see it attached to an award winning songwriter/singer/musician whose name is HADDOCK, DURWOOD HADDOCK that is. Frequently he has been heard to quip that he has two brothers named “Fried & Baked’ and a sister named Filet Of none of which however are recording artists”. Whatever his moniker, DURWOOD HADDOCK has a new 2008 CD on Eagle International Records, EICD208 titled, I DONE THE BOOGIE TOO LONG. It’s A real country/honky tonker, with all tracks recorded in Old School Studios, Lamasco, Texas with the exception of the bonus track which was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. HADDOCK who''s songs have been recorded by entertainment notables SCISSY SPACEK, K.D. LANG, SAMMI SMITH, ERNEST TUBB, BILLY ‘CRASH’ CRADDOCK and PATSY CLINE to name only a few releases album number four.
Not only has he enjoyed success with his songs on records, his material has also been used in the movies, including THE WHOLE TEN YARDS starring BRUCE WILLIS, THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS with PETER FONDA & ASIA ARGENTO and in the OSCAR winner COAL MINER’S DAUGHTER with SCISSY SPACEK & TOMMY LEE JONES. The WABASH CANNON BALL arrangement, probably the best to date and in the tradition of DANNY DAVIS & THE NASHVILLE BRASS, is by noted arranger/ producer/musician BOB DEAN who’s work with country music notables include DOLLY’s sister, STELLA PARTON who had top 10 hit with I WANT TO HOLD YOU IN MY DREAMS in 1975. DEAN was also producer & publisher of PAUL OVERSTREET’S earlier material in the mid to late 70’s. If you''re a fan of old school Honky Tonkin /Country you won''t be disappointed with this one even if HADDOCK’S last name is “fishy”. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
