The Westport Sunrise Sessions have always done things the hard way. Convinced they could write and record an album in one weekend, in a barn, three old friends and longtime collaborators packed everything that fit into a dysfunctional Cadillac and left Brooklyn for upstate New York, visions of creative idyll dancing in their heads.
Then the car broke down. Twice.
The recording equipment failed.
They didn''t sleep.
But difficult circumstances often produce compelling art, and twelve songs later, all the struggles made sense.

"[The Westport Sunrise Sessions] have made a very addictive album.
Several bands come to mind, but they definitely have something unique.
The album smells of creativity and pure enjoyment. Very unpredictable...
a wonderful album you really must buy." [Joost Hegle, Nephilius Webzine]

Fast-forward a few ragged years later; many more sleepless nights, an epic, sometimes comedic tour of Spain, countless gigs and a new recording studio have brought forth the band''s second full length album.
Cleverly titled ''The Westport Sunrise Sessions 2'', it retains the indie/folk/rock roots of the first record while capitalizing on the band''s growing creative dialogue and production skills.

From the Beatle-esque melodies and lyrical sarcasm of the opening track, "The King", to the Mariachi flavors and storied sentiments of "Barcelona"; from the bluesy drone and clang of "Cannonball" to the hyper-vivid, surreal imagery of "Hollywood Green", the album rewards the listener with sticky pop hooks, headphone-worthy production and well-crafted, lyrical storytelling.

The strength of the band is that all four members write, sing, and play different instruments on every song. Not only is this an active treat for the live audience, it keeps the creative process forever fresh and unencumbered. In addition, the members encourage each other in their exploration of other creative avenues which breathes life into their time together.

Jason Broome is a writer, runs the Diablo Dulce record label and also performs with his carnival-esque rock band, Tulula, in upstate New York. Robert Kitsos is a percussionist and Professor of Dance at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. Lucas Van Lenten writes music for TV and film, is an occasional actor, and is currently working on his second solo album. Daniel Weintraub is a filmmaker, editor/producer and engineer at Hell''s Kitchen Recording. He is working on his fourth solo album as Backworldsmen.

The Westport Sunrise Sessions are currently finishing up an instrumental post-rock/electronic/dub EP, due out whenever the power comes back on.
