KLT Presents...Butch! is the first CD in a trilogy of albums produced as a soundtrack for a superhero spawned in the mind of Kenny Carter. This superhero is named Butch. He is an orphaned stick figure from a planet called Grunt, which is the center of a galaxy called the Interplanetary Coalition of Grunt. Then, one day, Butch is rescued from the bowels of the streets and is transformed into a big, black mass of muscle with giant hands that can crush just about anything on the planet. Over time, he becomes the patron saint of the Grunt Galaxy, because he stumbles upon saving the world all of the time.
The songs on the cd are based on the progression of the Butch story. All the while, they paint parallel pictures to real life and a boy''s own search for his potential, his faith, and real love. The music is a melting pot of rock, pop, and funk driven by strong hip-hop grooves, deep bass, and massive hooks. The songs showcase a twisted sense of song structure, nearly choral vocal arrangements, and a passion for interweaving guitar tapestries. On any given song the listener might feel that he or she is hearing a completely new style of music and yet sense aural echoes of Prince, Bjork, Led Zepplin, and D''Angelo all at the same time. Add to this the poetry and tie-ins to the unfolding Butch tale and you have the makings of a unique musical experience.
