Details:
Seattle-based singer/songwriter Paul Lippert takes an open-eyed look at the American landscape, both personal and political, on his new album "Democracy For Lovers". In his delicious voice, Lippert addresses themes of truth and hypocrisy, hope and longing, and outrage and action, with deep musical roots that range from urban Americana and rootsy rock-n-roll to heart and soul ballads.

"Democracy For Lovers" is the fifth album of the Ohio-born artist, following "Life Is Changing" in 2004. Lippert describes "Democracy For Lovers" as "a record that couldn''t wait any longer. When columnist Molly Ivins passed away in 2007, I pledged to do my part to keep the fires of outrage burning until the end of the War On Terror. This album is in large part a tribute to her. In her honor, I hope to both stir some outrage and make it clear we had fun while doing it."

While his family music fans will recognize his voice immediately, people new to Paul Lippert may be surprised to learn that he has three acclaimed recordings aimed at families and children (including winners of Gold Awards from both Parents'' Choice and NAPPA), notable for their cross-generational appeal and superb musicianship.

Produced by Matt Brown (Trespassers William, Transmissionary Six), Democracy For Lovers features Americana rising star Holly O''Reilly on harmony vocals and jazz vocalist Lauren Kinhan (New York Voices) on a captivating remake of Bacharach & David''s "What The World Needs Now Is Love." Recorded in Seattle (The Track Shack) with some of the region''s finest musicians, including Keith Lowe on bass (Bill Frissell/The Willies, David Sylvian, Wayne Horvitz), James McAlister on drums (Sufjan Stevens, Ester Drang, Rocky Votolato), Rod Cook on guitar (Laura Love, Vicci Martinez), and Ryan Smith on organ (Jonathan Kingham, Mycle Wastman). Mixed by Matt Brown at Avast in Seattle and mastered by David Glasser at Airshow in Boulder.
