Details:
Lost Nomad is currently a one man band consisting of Diego Guzman, a Spanish songwriter/bassist/guitarist based in Manchester, UK.

All instruments were performed and recorded at home on a 16 track machine. The mixing and mastering was done at Cave Studio in Nice, south of France.

History

Born in multicultural Luxembourg and raised by Spanish parents, Diego spent his teens listening to artists such as Duran Duran, Prince, Michael Jackson and most of the 80''s mainstream pop rock scene. He was also influenced to a degree by popular music from neighbouring countries like France, Belgium and Germany as well as Italy and Spain.

This pop influenced period was suspended around 1990 when he saw the ''Sweet Child O'' Mine'' video by Guns N'' Roses which radically changed his musical direction and motivated him to buy his first instrument. The original plan was to become a drummer but on the day he was meant to pick up the drum kit he reserved at the local store, he mysteriously changed his mind at the very last minute and bought a bass guitar from the shop next door instead. The following years were spent practising and playing along to records from Guns N'' Roses, Metallica, Ozzy, Slayer, Faith No More, Skid Row, Red Hot Chili Peppers amongst many others as well as music on TV and radio.

The music scene back home being so small and life in general so boring, he decided to move to Paris where he got into death metal and grunge bands like Napalm Death, Death, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains whilst studying translations at university. He had a go at putting a few bands together and eventually filled a bassist position in a signed alternative death/thrash/rock band fronted by a female screamer with whom gigged across France.

Disappointed with the direction the band was taking with the second album and also the French music scene in general, he moved to Manchester a few years later to look for a new start, experience the vibrant music scene and finish his university degree. There he joined several rock/alternative bands and gigged all over the UK. However, his inability to find the right musicians (especially a drummer versatile enough to blend a myriad of styles) and his ever growing desire for independence prompted him to go solo in 2006 and improve his singing and guitar skills.

This self titled debut album was recorded at home over the last couple of years although only half the songs are fairly recent as the others had already been written while playing in bands and just needed a new feel.

Lost Nomad''s music is a combination of various styles such as rock, jazz, funk, heavy metal, reggae, pop, and punk rock; some tracks even touch upon several styles at once whilst remaining coherent and incredibly catchy. The end result is a very individual style with a sultry even nomadic feel at times particularly in some of the solos and percussion beats.

The intense, profound and introspective qualities of the melodies help the listener''s mind remain in the here and now enabling it to rediscover its original silent essence free from time, thoughts and illusions -the Self that exists prior to the development of the ego that we all have in common- and reach that state of ''oneness'' with all living things; this is essential to achieving both personal and world peace and is one the meanings behind Lost Nomad''s symbol, the curled lizard eating its own tail.
