"It''s exciting to hear music this good. Song writing this strong coupled with able players and unique production is a breath of fresh air." -- https://www.tradebit.com Artist Relations

In their sophomore release, Lady Jane Grey, comprised of Sarah Hoover (lead vocals and cello) and guitarist David Martin, explore the search for love from almost every angle, beginning with the opening lines of "This is Love" and punctuating the album with Jimmy MacCarthy''s classic "Bright Blue Rose." In the notes between, they bare their souls, often choosing intensely personal themes as subject matter. An album rich in depth and stylistic diversity, Love and the Search For... is, for their loyal fan base, an appropriate (and much anticipated) follow-up to their debut album; for others, the CD is an introduction to an incredibly unique pair of artists. Sarah Hoover''s passionate, flawless vocal delivery is showcased like never before, and the songwriting, a shared effort by the duo, is mature, honest, and universal.

Produced by David Sinko, whose credits include work with Trisha Yearwood, Yo Yo Ma, Edgar Meyers, and Bela Fleck, Love and the Search For... picks up where Lady Jane Grey''s debut effort left off, but it also takes a considerable step forward. The familiar "Lady Jane Grey sound" that fans have come to know and love is ever present, but it is artfully framed by some of music''s most accomplished players: Larry Cheney (Edwin McCain, Beth Nielsen Chapman) on electric guitar, Dave Pomeroy (Emmylou Harris, Trisha Yearwood, Maura O''Connell) on bass, Dony Wynn (Robert Palmer, Patti LaBelle, Brooks & Dunn) on drums, Bill Shanley (Mary Black, Eleanor McEvoy) on guitar. Lyrically, the songs on Love and the Search For... reflect the intimacy and rare depth that fans have come to expect from Lady Jane Grey, tackling topics ranging from a friend''s drug addiction ("Carry Me Away") to parenthood ("Sweetest of Days") to the lightheartedness of falling in love.

Since 1998, Lady Jane Grey have combined inspired musicianship with a strong work ethic (Sarah calls it "obsession") to become one of the rare success stories in the world of independent music. They are entirely self-contained, managing, promoting, and booking themselves as well as running their own record label, Reflector Records. Their web site and email list both serve as frequent points of destination for their loyal fans, who often help with the grassroots-style marketing of the band. "We try to stay involved with our fans," Sarah explains. "We try to always remain approachable because we want our fans to be a part of what we''re doing. They''re the whole reason we''re here."

This down-to-earth approach, as well as an accessible and broad catalog of songs ranging in style from pop, rock, Americana, folk, and Adult Alternative, has won them recognition both regionally and nationally. They have received airplay on over 120 radio stations nationwide and are played heavily on Texas radio. They were featured on MusicChoice''s "Unsigned" show, reaching an audience of 12 million. "Twilight," from their first release, was included on "The World Will Remember," a nationally released album benefiting the victims of 9/11 which featured some of the top independent artists in the nation. They have been honored with numerous awards, including a "Best Contemporary Song" nomination in the prestigious Just Plain Folks Awards, a ceremony which has become the Grammy Awards of independent music. They recently won the honor of "Champion" at https://www.tradebit.com, beating out hundreds of other artists in a vote by peers and industry professionals. Lady Jane Grey also remains a local favorite, consistently winning "Best of..." awards in San Antonio as well as remaining one of the top selling independent acts in their region.

The future is bright for Lady Jane Grey, and as they look ahead toward a busy season of tour and support of their new release, they remain ever grateful for the opportunity to live the dream, for it was not long ago that they began playing to empty chairs at a coffeehouse in Bandera, TX. The road from that coffeehouse has been fruitful and they have picked up many fans along the way. Love and the Search For... marks a new leg of the journey, and invites listeners new and old to come along for the ride.
