Details:
Formed mostly in the latter half of 2007, Across The Aisle is a New York City-based ska/punk/reggae band whose influences include everything from the English Beat and Big D and the Kids Table to The Drifters. The band began with singer, Megg Howe, native of the Boston area. After meeting guitarist Joe Brody (featured guitarist on The Mercy EP, has since parted ways with ATA) who’d just relocated to NYC from California, she convinced her friend and fellow actor, Jay Pintar, originally from Michigan, to dust off his trumpet and start a ska band. Drummers and bassists came and went, but eventually the rhythm section solidified with drummer, Jonathan "JV" Vergara, the only band member actually from NYC, and bassist, Ashray Shah, also from California. Less than two weeks prior to a weekend concert tour, alto saxophonist Jackie Chasen*, of New Haven, CT, responded to an ad online and filled out the horn section. With members coming from across the country and from very different backgrounds, both musically and otherwise, the band itself is a testament to unity in diversity. Across The Aisle’s unique, catchy melodies and skankalicious rhythms are infectious celebrations of this diversity. Under a banner of kelly green, Across The Aisle is looking to add some color and take ska from two-tone to three-tone!
