Anton would firstly like to take the time to thank you for taking the time and effort to check out his music. He is clear that it is only through the listening of YOU the music lover, that he gets to do what he loves and that of course is make and play music.
Anton basically writes about two different things. One is his spiritual journey and the second is love song for his wife and kids. These are the things that most inspire Anton. “I use to write political songs and the likes but always found I ended up being a hypocrite so I leave those sorts of songs to others these days.” Anton’s fascination with the mind is also reflected in the fact that he has a post graduate degree in psychology and is currently more drawn to Eastern meditation and philosophies. Needless to say if you are after music about “drive bys” or “or “partying through the night”, you’re probably in the wrong place. All Anton’s songs are well thought out pieces with a great deal of depth that both inspire and challenge the listener. This content is then coupled with hooks and Anton’s smooth crooning voice the combination of which, once it’s got you just won’t let you go. It’s the type music that feeds the soul.
Anton records and produces all his own material in his home studio “Big Ears Studios” under his label “BugEye Records” in his home town of Brisbane Australia. More often than not Anton plays all the instruments you hear in his songs and does his own midi programming, although he does also love to collaborate with other artists when the opportunity arises.
Anton plays live up and down the Eastern Coastline of Australia but at present is concentrating more on the recording side of things. “I love the recording process. I love just getting lost in the moment, being present to the now and I find recording is a great catalyst to getting me to this place as is playing music in general”.
“Closer than Breathing” is Anton Goodchild’s second release under his solo banner. It differs from his first EP ”Twist of Fate” with the introduction of keyboards on some tracks and also dashes of electronica intertwined with Anton signature earthy feel. It also features some heaver tracks with distorted guitar coupled along with the acoustic steel string. As usual the lyrics have great depth which stimulate and challenge the listener and some beautiful love songs that will capture your heart.
