About Lamar James…

Lamar James sings music with a message and lives the word that he writes.

Born James Lamar Brown in Augusta, Georgia on August 17, 1968, he grew up in the small town of Bowersville, GA. It was in Bowersville at age 5 that Lamar began his music career, singing in a gospel group with his three sisters.

By age 9 he was writing as well as singing and by 13 he formed his first musical group—winning many local talent shows in Georgia and South Carolina.

With many musical milestones already crossed there was no stopping the burgeoning young artist. At 21 he formed his second group, and within six months had opened concert for Ms. Dorothy Norwood. He was appointed Music Pastor, at Glad tidings Assembly by age 27 and just a few years later formed his own production company—JéLam Productions.

It has been a long road for James to the realization of his dream, and along the way he has sung, led, and directed groups that have opened for such renowned artists as Ron Kenoly and Al Denson.

He received both national and international acclaim and his single A Sovereign Move garnered rave reviews at the 2003 Central South Retail Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia being noted in particular by New Artist Showcase judges Sanchez Harley –Producer; Mark Harris -Pinnacle Records; Andrelle Perry -ABC Radio Network and Neely Dickerson -President Church Howse Music. His music ministry has taken him from Shambach Revival Ministries to Mexico City, Mexico.

Currently Lamar’s music can be heard on over 200 U.S. stations, in 70 countries on Walter Love’s nationally syndicated show, Gospel Traxxs.

Singer, songwriter, producer—Lamar James has traveled far on his musical journey, a journey he couldn’t have made without the support of his wife Yulonda and their three children Shalonda, James and Joboa.

“I always had faith it would go,” James said of his musical career. And now it’s going beyond his wildest dreams.
