Beyond Prayze is a vibrant Gospel ensemble comprised of saved, enthusiastic, energized young people for the Lord, whose mission is to save souls, through the ministry of music. Since their inception, they have diligently taken the ministry God has entrusted to them, everywhere God has called them to go.
On May 20th 2004, Beyond Prayze was born from a revelation from God, given to Horace PJ. Owens, Jr. Currently, Beyond Prayze is making their indelible mark within the Philadelphia gospel music industry. The group’s musical repertoire ranges from hymns, to jazzy gospel, to contemporary/urban gospel to original compositions and an ingenious arrangement of standards.
Beyond Prayze has already had the privilege of performing at various venues within the Tri-state and surrounding areas. God is truly blessing and doors are opening. Over the past years they have had the privilege of sharing the stage with many national and internationally known gospel artist such as Tye Tribbett and Greater Anointing, Jason Nelson, Twyse, and Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Tabernacle choir, and number of local groups such as, Joy Unlimited Youth choir, Minister Chico Robinson & God’s Chosen, Kevin Jarido & Nu Virtu, Minister Brian Jackson & Chosen Generation’s United Voices, Minister T. A. Davis & Restoration Fellowship Chorale, Minister Absalom Mitchell & God’s Anointed People, Minister Sharnelle Blain & Divine Purpose, Minister Curtis Word & New Image, The Metropolitan Male Ensemble, Tia Pittman, Minister Marc Britt & Restored, Elder Talitia Murchinson, Tamara Hudson, Minister BJ Shores & Miraculous Sounds of God, Zachary Williams & One Accord, Bishop Bruce V. Parham & Elements of Praise, Bishop Andrew Ford & the Anointed Voices of Ford Memorial Marlow Hall & True Vision, & Benita Farmer just to name a few. Beyond Prayze has also ministered at many colleges including, Cheney University, Kutztown University, West Chester University, Community College of Philadelphia, the University of Virginia, and Delaware State University. Beyond Prazye’s first anniversary concert was even featured in a local newspaper, The Philadelphia Sunday Sun’s, Oasis section in July of 2005. Beyond Prayze also has had the opportunity to sing for Congressman Chaka Fattah, at the Ben Franklin House Ballroom. In July of 2006, while celebrating their second anniversary, Beyond Prayze recorded their first live CD. Not only singing in churches, concerts and major events, they have also taken their ministry to the streets and sang at various shelters for the less fortunate, and numerous times at the KirkBride Center for recovering drug abusers, and mental health patients.
This Ministry is based on the scripture Romans 8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us…”. This scripture simply conveys that if you have a strong foundation in God, you are victorious.
This is a group that strives for perfection and will settle for nothing less than excellence. One thing that this ministry focuses on is to be Godly examples to others, and sharing the gift of salvation. God has really anointed them and they will continue to strive for excellence and progression in the body of Christ. This is just the beginning and, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
