"Our oversized ears know "the gift" when they hear it. No lie. All the note-shaped pieces fall neatly into place here. The stellar guitar playing sparks neck-high goosebumps. The peppy pop vocals force an unstoppable tapping of the right tennis shoe. The Ska slant sound issues a wonderful breath of fresh, ozone warning air. Lead singer, Ian Roure, really does sound like a young Elvis Costello. And you obviously can''t go wrong there."
Playfully sarcastic with an inviting sound reminiscent of early Squeeze (with nods to ska bands like The English Beat and The Specials) The Larch specialize in strong melodies, dexterous guitar, clever songwriting, soaring harmonies and tight yet inspired playing. Song subject matter includes; the joys of consuming raw fish (Sushi Habit - or is this one of them clever metaphors?) the use and abuse of flowers (Poppy Day) and songs such as Bat Boy Signs Up and Paperbored Packaging Association are sardonic and entertaining social commentary.

"The Larch: An interesting recipe; take two cups of late sixties Brit, add a pinch of hippie, then bake till glam - the sound, not the look rise to the top."
