RADIOANIMA (radiosoul) is the fourth record within Giorgio Maggiore
discography.
As his third album, DENTRO AI TUOI SOGNI (into your
dreams), this work is almost completely instrumental.
The tracks are
ten, composed, entirely played, mixed, arranged and produced by Giorgio
Maggiore himself.
The first track is called RADIOANIMA, a medley
divided into three parts: TEMPESTE ELETTROMAGNETICHE (electromagnetical
storms) is a keyboards melody which seems to warn the listener that
something wrong could happen like a thunder coming fast; RADIOANIMA
(radiosoul) is a song with a psychedelic refrain which reminds of some
XTC song with lyrics against the crazy growth of economical human needs
and landscapes destruction; the third part is a sweet piano melody
which starts from the last long final note of RADIOANIMA song, it is
called ISOFREQUENZE (isofrequencies).
The second track is callled
LIBERI (free), it is a ballad with a shoegaze guitar refrain.
SPERANZE
TRADITE (betrayed hopes) is a piano track with violin keyboards. It
starts with a cheerful melody, it seems reflecting a carefree and happy
soul...but suddenly melody turns to a sad and darker tune, like a man
who lost his life meaning in a very short time.
The fourth track is
called LA PORTA (the door). Guitars are played as some new wave British
band of the Eighties , the refrain is very different with a strange
rhythm and obsessive guitars. Lyrics talk about the only chance have a
man and a woman to live together in total happiness: outside the door
of their lives.
The successive three tracks are totally
instrumental.
RINTOCCHI (tolling) is an acoustic guitars ballad without
lyrics. It reminds a little bit of some Penguin Cafe Orchestra track.
RICORDI IMPROVVISI (sudden memories) is another piano and violins track
containing a particular sweet melody. It seems to be the soundtrack of
some moving memory of many years ago.
INNO (Hymn) is a synthetic
keyboards invented national hymn, it is a very strange melody, the
perfect preface of successive track, the quite krautrock WIE WIRD MEINE
ZUKUNFT?. This track starts like a march and develops itself, after
some German lyrics, with a long solo shoegaze guitar which reminds of
Mogwai music. It is quite impossible classifying this track.
The ninth
track is a very sweet acoustical ballad called IN FONDO ALL''ANIMA (in
the bottom of the heart). Last track is a keyboard track named PENSIERI
IMMORTALI (immortal thoughts). Melody is full of contrasts between
bright and dark, in the end a piano remains alone with an obsessive and
mysterious tune.
RADIOANIMA is a very sentimental record, where Giorgio
tries to envolve emotionally the listener turning his deepest feelings
to his selfmade inner music.
