Details:
Bob McQuillen of Peterborough, NH, is one of the most beloved New England contra dance musicians. "Mac" has played to the delight of countless dancers continuously for 60 years since his start in 1947 with the Ralph Page Orchestra. In 1997 Bob received the New Hampshire Folk Heritage Award and in 2002 the National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship. He has inspired innumerable musicians, young and old, and has composed over 1,000 fiddle tunes.
Cathie, Laurie, and WB were first captivated by Bob''s playing on the seminal recordings of the Canterbury Country Dance Orchestra in the 1970s.
The Rhythm Rollers formed on the wave of enthusiasm we share for Mac''s piano playing, the tunes he has written and his relentless encouragement and jokes.
Cathie Whitesides performed Irish music for several years with Kevin Keegan and Joe Cooley and became a much sought after dance fiddler in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Laurie Andres began playing for dances in 1976 in Baltimore and Washington D.C. with the legendary Steve Hickman. He met Cathie in 1980 and they began playing for dances and festivals all over the USA.
WB Reid started playing for dances in the 1970s in San Diego with John Tuohy. WB first played with Cathie in 1975 and joined our band about 25 years later here in Seattle.
