Details:
Danny Heines is a truly gifted musician in who has emerged as one of the world Õs most innovative guitarists. In addition to his virtuosity as a finger-style guitarist, his love for poly-rhythms has led him to pioneer the technique of ÒtappingÓ, on acoustic guitar. This allows him to play complex multi-layered compositions while bringing a uniquely percusive sound to the guitar.
In addition to his work as a guitarist Danny is among a handful of Americans adept in the technique of throat singing, wherein the overtones in the voice are naturally amplified and manipulated to create melodies while a single pitch is held. Danny''s strong passion for world music can be felt on his newly released fifth CD, "What Worlds They Bring" which includes innovative arrangements of folk melodies from Eastern Europe and Africa.
HeinesÕ four albums on Silverwave Records have swept the airwaves, consistently charting in the top ten in magazines such as "Billboard", "Gavin", and "R&R". "Jazz Iz" placed HeinesÕ album "Every Island" at #1. He also appears on the original Windham Hill Guitar Sampler and the "Shadowfax" album, "Magic Theater".
Danny grew up playing jazz and in a musically rich environment in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where his mother, a concert promoter often hosted bands such as The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Frank Zappa, and King Crimson. Upon hearing Danny sing at age two Dave Brubeck told his mother he was destined for a life of music.
