Singer/songwriter Jamie Lipe is 28 years old and resides in San Antonio. She grew up relatively unnoticed and hidden away in Fredericksburg, a little town in the Texas hill country. A self taught drummer, pianist, and bass guitar player, she spent most of her time as a youth recording songs on a cassette tape recorder, layering in instruments or vocal harmonies. One might find a small library of tapes with such compositions tucked away under a bed in her mom''s home in Fredericksburg. She is an accomplished instrumentalist who claims to only "play at" the guitar and to be a "little out of practice" on her trumpet. However, if you listen closely to the tracks on her indie album, "Freedom Comes", you might notice that she is as unassuming and humble as she is talented.
In 2000, with a desire to record some of her original material, Jamie set out to purchase recording equipment. She spent the next 4 years learning to engineer and record using a humble but effective 8-track digital home studio. The culmination of her talents as a musician, songwriter, and singer are showcased on the self-produced album, a result of her determination and drive to do what most would consider, at best, a daunting task.
