I was rapidly motoring down a long Texas highway heading for a gig in Arizona when I noticed a hitchhiker in the distance. I was about to speed on by until I saw he was carrying a guitar. I stopped and asked, "Where are you headed?" "I''m Bradley Scott Jones and I''m headed for Lubbock, Texas," was the reply.
We traveled along and talked about our musical experiences and a little bit about writing songs. I dropped him off in Amarillo and headed on my way.
A few years later we ran into each other in a bar near Seattle. I grabbed a guitar out of my car and played Bradley a few songs I had written. After listening he said, "I''m not really into songs about food, animals or grapes and plums." He said, "Let me play you a few songs I wrote. They''re about my life." I listened. The next words out of my mouth were, "I know where there''s a studio. Let''s go record."
