The Back Chords are a Rock trio from Chicago with a simple yet forceful sound. Their 2008 debut record “Transients, Reprobates and Ingrates” seems a though its meant as a soundtrack for any soul that takes pleasure in shattering emptied alcohol containers. Throughout each of the thirteen tracks, the band projects itself from several different angles: uncompromisingly vicious rockers, sound experimentalists and humorous chroniclers of debauched culture. Their stage show borders on theatrical. On any given night, the band might literally set fire to the stage and wield bloody chickens as if they were butchers knives. At high volumes, the intensity is palpable. At low volumes, their metallic aggression morphs into catchy tunes that stick in the head. If you are looking for a band that understands your inner-pain and romantic anguish, you got the wrong guys.
