For nearly a decade, *Dove Award nominee Billy Buchanan and his band Fusebox have lead worship in countries throughout the world, released two full length albums and an EP, and appeared on various worship compilations. For three years, Billy also toured as the guitarist for Grammy Award winner Rebecca St. James. In early 2007, Billy made a surprise decision to take a position as the Worship Director at Good News Church in St. Augustine, Florida. Billy explains, “It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I wanted to speak into the lives of a body of believers on a daily basis and this allows me to do that. What an awesome privilege it is to be able to lead God’s people in worship.”
In the summer of 2007, Billy released his first solo album, Transparent. Throughout 2008 and 2009, Billy will be the featured artist and instructor at the Worship Experience Workshop, a touring conference for worship leaders and worship team members. Billy’s currently working on his second solo album, Heaven and Earth.
Having endured an abusive father, poverty, and eventually his parent''s divorce, Billy encourages listeners with songs of worship, hope, and restoration. He describes his music as a blend of “concrete and dirt.” He explains, “I was raised in Cleveland, OH, but my family was originally from Georgia, and brought a lot of that culture with them. I would hear pop, hip-hop, and dance music on the street, but at home and at my grandparent’s houses, I would hear soul, country, and gospel. It all rubbed off on me. If you listen closely, you can hear all of these influences in the music that I write for the Lord and for the church.”
