Brad Burns’ latest “Country Walk” EP release portrays life as a Country music entertainer. The chorus of the title track says it all. From the “free stage” to the grandstands on the Fair circuit, small town festivals, bars and rodeo arenas, Brad Burns “Country Walk” is an anthem for “anyone who’s proud to be Country America” Burns says, from a Country man who’s lived the words…
After opening for Country superstar Terri Clark in 2005 at the Siskiyou County Golden Fair in Yreka, California, Burns stepped off the grandstands and back to his small town, population 800, Happy Camp, California. Six months of radio play on KSYC Country radio, interviews and song requests, notably of his song “Letters” and a local tour with his song “Country Dog” made Burns known throughout Siskiyou County that summer ending in December.
Brad began songwriting at the age of twelve in Escondido, California, a Southern California town close to the U.S./Mexico border. With a hard-working Country spirit like Toby Keith, Brad taught himself to play bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, drums and keyboard. He continuously studies songwriting and vocal techniques. He learned the intricacies of digital music recording software, studio performing, and designing album art; ultimately producing record albums, live shows and concerts.
Reflecting on his life and the lives of Fair entertainers and rodeo champions he met along the way from 2004 to 2007, Burns wrote “Eight Seconds” and “Ghost Town.” By summer of ’07 Burns hopped on a flight to Maui for a break to stay with some family, for what finished another month of living on the island, and walked the beaches at night under the “Maui Stars.” It was there that Burns felt his small town, was “like the island, and the planes that come in and leave, like love that leaves town and never comes back” and he wrote “Maui Stars.”
Burns returned to Happy Camp and finished the summer in the creeks, tracking in the woods and adding to his experiences with bears, cougar, elk, deer, shooting the shotgun and bow, doing Highway 96 hay trucking runs, helping his family live the independent way of life on the Frontier, and doing a Native American music and Country music show at the Karuk Tribe of California. He was invited back to the grandstands at the Siskiyou County Golden Fair to open for award-winning pop Gospel artist Warren Barfield that August.
Soon after, he began calling around in Nashville promoting an Armed Forces Entertainment tour to Country entertainers to go to his friends’ bases in the Middle East and he wrote “Wrong Number In Nashville.” In June 2008, Brad’s “Wrong Number In Nashville” EP ranked in at number four in the genre of Country Rodeo on https://www.tradebit.com’s “Editor’s Picks” with Country legend Chris LeDoux’s group’s latest release coming in at number one. Burns’ releases “Freedom” and “Freedom’s Call” also came in the Top 40 releases on https://www.tradebit.com’s “Editor’s Picks” in the genre of Country Rodeo.
Nowadays, Burns has brought his Country life experiences and Country music to the city, to Eugene, Oregon, where the constant sound of trucks on the road sing a different melody than the river, the train rumbles by his apartment like a falling tree, where there’s more than a two-lane highway and a stop sign, and the city lights fill up the sky in the concrete wilderness for miles and miles around…
So when you see him under neon lights humming "No Man Is An Island”, easily recognized as one of the only cowboy hats out on the town on a weekend midnight, he’s “livin’ life like Cowboy Christmas…”
And he’s “still doin’ the Country Walk.”
