Details:
Pastor Jason Hatfield, of Living Love USA, is a worship pastor in Peoria, Illinois. His wife, Maria, is the daughter of the founders of Living Love, Ed and Gloria King. The organization was founded in Honduras, C.A. There are many churches in Central, South and now, North America. Together, Maria and Jason, are the Senior Pastors of a small bi-lingual congregation.

Jason grew up in central Illinois. He comes from a very musical family. Having grown up in church, he has understood he has a calling to lead God’s people into His presence, and is totally committed to the task. About 10 years ago, God began to move upon Jason to perceive that he had also been called to write worship songs. In the early stages, Jason was struggling to find his style of writing and was not content with mainstream contemporary worship.

Jason began to devote all his time and energy to seek God’s face for musical direction. Jason has often said that the moment he discovered his musical place, it was profoundly simple. His prayer was that God show him how to bring freedom in worship. He wanted very much to encourage the people to dance before the Lord. While in prayer one day, God simply said “write songs that will cause the people to dance’.

Jason began to search for that niche in music that would be his. He recalled that having grown up in the 70s, there was no music so happy and free more than R&B. He began to remember how funk and disco always made him excited and inspired. But, could this be OK to do in the church?
By faith, Jason began to write music that was distinctly R&B. Maria, his wife, continued to encourage him to go forward and do what God was calling him to do. He would often present the new music in his home church, experimenting with sounds and beats that were different.

Scott Bell is Jason’s friend and producer. In those first years Jason would share his dream with Scott, showing him idea after idea. Scott was supportive and encouraging, not realizing the important role he would play in the years to come.

Living Love USA has an annual general conference where all the churches come together and fellowship with workshops and meetings designed to renew and refresh. In 2002, it was Peoria’s turn to host the event, and Jason was asked to lead the worship in the general meetings. On a Saturday morning, God spoke to Jason and said that it was time to debut some original worship. This was not something planned, but Jason obeyed the Lord and shared two songs. The response was overwhelming. The people broke out into a new level of freedom and intimacy that had not been experienced before. Many churches returned to their home cities and introduced Jason’s music and the people embraced it.
The following 2 years Jason introduced more and more original songs and each time a new move of the spirit of God was released. Many people began to ask how they could buy a copy of the songs they had grown to love. Unfortunately, Jason had nothing to give them. An album seemed too impossible, both financially and practically.

Jason began to seek the Lord concerning this dream. A musician dreams of making music, but not many live it.
Being Jason’s friend, Scott was praying with Jason about this dream. Scott soon realized that God was calling him to take an active role in the dream. Being impressed by God, Scott pursued making the finances available. Soon Jason found himself in the studio making the impossible happen. Jason and Scott had no real understanding of what they were about to face.

In April of 2005, they began recording. After about a year, they made a harsh discovery, the tracks were not usable. Technical difficulties with studio equipment halted the process. Money had been lost. The worst news of all was that they had to start over. This was devastating. What could they do?
Fortunately, Jason and Scott had a very important friend in the music industry. Trent Keeling, of Advanced Audio in Peoria, was an invaluable asset. Trent has spent 30 years in the music business, working with the famous and the talented. Through his efforts, Jason and Scott were connected with some very talented people. They went back into the studio, only this time it was another level.
They were surrounded with seasoned pros, who were not only elite musicians but contributors to the sound. Songs were literally transformed with each musician. Jason and Scott were amazed at what God was doing. The dream was not only still alive, but beyond their hopes.

The vision of “Spirit Groove” is not just great music. It is intended to bring an atmosphere of freedom and intimacy into worship. Jason’s approach to making this
album has been deliberate and clear. A musical groove has power. It can lift up and excite. It can stir passion for the presence of God. Jason does not seek to perform. His purpose is to inspire passion and pure devotion that will be acceptable to God. When God’s presence descends, miracles happen.
The vision of “Spirit Groove” is not seeker sensitive. It is Holy Spirit sensitive. Pastor Jason’s heart is to give the Holy Spirit freedom to do whatever He wants. Jason’s desire is to lead the people to worship “in spirit and truth”. When that happens, whether it is in a church building or an auditorium, God will inhabit the praise of His people.

Pastor Jason wants the purposes of God to carry the release of this project. He will not accept anything less.
