"LOKI THE GRUMP is today''s "in yer face" boot stomping punk!"

Their self described mission is "puttin'' the FUN back in GRUMP", and they believe in getting your aggression out the good ole fashioned way - jump, dance, scream, shout, and stomp - as LOUDLY as possible! Loki the Grump (LTG) has been described by fans (including the drummer of legendary bands Stiff Little Fingers & The Alarm) as comparable to X-ray Spex meets Vice Squad meets Hole with a sprinkle of Garbage & Siouxsie. This GRUMPY music grabs you right from the get go, crawling under your skin and keeping the fans begging, pleading for more, more, MORE.... "It''s the kind of music to get a speeding ticket to, to push and shove people to, to throw your ex''s stuff out the window to..." and to generally get "Grumpy" to!

The band''s front woman is MICHELE JAFFE, who has just the right mix of sassiness, sexiness and attitude, offering a perfect fit for the band''s sound. "... I love how the singer''s voice is so damn strong, it gives the music that much needed kick away from the usual punk sound. Such character. It''s like a female Jello Biafra. Amazing!" says Kylie Buchanan of Distant Warning. Formerly a drummer for the punk-goth bands Flowers Inside and Vampness, Michele has evolved into a loud, raucous and in-your-face rock goddess! In addition to co-writing songs with fellow band mates for LTG, Michele is also a successful and published songwriter, with songs being performed all around the tri-state area by some of today''s hottest NYC indie artists. Two of her more "dark" songs, under the moniker DuskMusik, have received consistent radio play on college radio stations in the tri-state area. Last year The National Academy of Popular Music / Songwriters Hall of Fame lauded Michele''s efforts by honoring her with the Abe Olman Scholarship Award for "Excellence In Songwriting"! She is also the co-founder of Jafzi Entertainment, an indie record label and creative network with members including some of the hottest indie talent in the country.

The other members rounding out this "Grumpy" line-up hail from a variety of musical backgrounds and have played in a diverse array of avant-garde punk and goth-rock bands including; Buffalo-based Radiolucent and former NYC staple Flowers Inside:

Lead guitarist HOWIE INGERMAN has been nicknamed "hardcore howie," "h-bomb," and "Mr. Curmudgeon" due to his intense playing and guitar faces. He is notorious for playing through a barrage of hi-gain nastiness. A guitarist since the age of 13, Howie has been a musician his entire life - starting on piano and voice at age 4, moving to trumpet at 9, and dabbling in drums at 12. His main influences are Aerosmith, Metallica, God Street Wine, Frank Black, Igor Stravinsky, and Gomez.

Taking charge on bass is PHIL PHAM, whose influences range from Celtic Frost to Natacha Atlas. Phil was trained on violin from a young age and eventually brought his skills to the guitar. He has played both guitar and bass with many local bands including Flowers Inside and Seek Treatment. Phil reunited with Michele in 2003 to complete the formation of Loki the Grump.

Rounding out the rhythm section for LTG is drummer DAWN MOORE who is also an accomplished DJ and bassist. She played drums with goth-rock band GFD (consisting of drums, bass and a mandolin) and played bass for the Flowers Inside reunion gig in 2003 before joining LTG as drummer later that year. As a DJ at The Depot and Power Planet in her hometown of Baltimore, Dawn had an ever-growing audience worshipping her from the dance floor as she spun her unique mixes of industrial, goth, new wave, modern and post-modern songs. As a drummer, Dawn is greatly influenced by Stewart Copeland, Budgie and Neil Peart.

What results from this wacky combo are off-the-charts performances and hook laden songs that haunt you for days, and are nothing short of pure Grumpy FUN! Much to the delight of their rabid fan base, (proudly declaring themselves as GRUMPIES), Loki the Grump recently released their 5-song debut EP on Jafzi Records, entitled "THE BRINK", produced by Larry Hammel of Deepwave Music Productions. Praise for their EP and live show is has been pouring in. "Production is raw, naked, simple, LOUD... wickedly entertaining gang. LOKI THE GRUMP is the itch you will love to scratch. Repeatedly." Vanessa Taylor - Bits''O''News.

The EP is already receiving airplay on several local and international radio stations including New York''s # 1 rock station Q104.3''s "Out of the Box" show with DJ Jonathan Clarke, Ithaca college station WVBR''s "Last Exit for the Lost", the "Jeans Generation" radio show in Bosnia, and on France''s fave grrrrl radio show, "Babes In Boyland".

Loki the Grump are based in New York City and can be found performing at many of the city''s top rock clubs including CBGB''s, Knitting Factory, Acme Underground, The Pussycat Lounge, and more. They are starting to expand their touring area along the East Coast and this summer will be part of Revolutionary Records Girls Rock & Girls Rule the Road Tour in several cities. Catch them in your neighborhood soon so you can GET GRUMPY too!

Review on Distant Warning (https://www.tradebit.com) of a Loki the Grump bootleg live CD:

Loki The Grump - Live @ Acme Underground

by Kylie Buchanan

"Hmmm... I like this.

As the music starts, there''s a huge crunchy punk sound that comes flying out. Then, as the vocals kick in you get a rather pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual weak talentless female punk singer, you get a strong voice, full of character!

As the gig progresses, other styles are showcased - a couple of more rocky riffs and more melodic songs. This has been recorded very well (apart from the bass problem for the first few songs) and it has convinced me to research further into the talents of Loki The Grump.... Something about a forthcoming EP... Anyway - I love how the singers voice is so damn strong, it gives the music that much needed kick away from the usual punk sound. Such character. It''s like a female Jello Biafra. Amazing!"
