Johnny Whiteside was born in Vero Beach, Florida. A small southern town on Floridas east coast. At a young age Johnny grew a keen ear for music and became very passionate about Rock and Heavy Metal. At the age of 12 he began playing drums and started his first band Axiom with two middle school friends. Axiom was a pop/punk cover band and played various shows around Vero Beach. A year later Johnny picked up the guitar in hopes to help Axiom write better songs. Soon after Axiom broke up, and Johnny was well into his next band Alegence. A dark underground punk band with strong political views. Johnny has always idolized musicians like Prince who could play different instruments, and like Prince performed all instruments herd on a record. Soon after learning to play guitar Johnny made it a goal to learn as many instruments as possible. He did just that when he recorded his first EP entitled The Death Of Common Since at the age of 18. Throughout his High School days he was in and out of several other bands until going solo in 2005. In the same year Johnny moved to Orlando to begin college at Fullsail University for Recording Arts. A year later he graduated with an Associates of Science degree.
Now it has been 2 and a half years since Johnny Whiteside has released any new music. A year and a half since he has performed in any bands. And 4 years since he has performed any shows. Yet at the age of 21 this newly solo artist has ditched the traditional band and is going against the grain. With his new release The Johnny Whiteside EP complete, he is credited as the Drummer, Bassist, Guitarist, Vocalist, Keyboardist, and Producer of his own work. Its nice to have freedom as a musician. Johnny says. With songs like Is This Really Love he writes about a topic he has never touched on in the past. Johnny notes: Im so used to writing about hate and anger, but now Im older and feel comfortable writing about love or other topics I wouldnt usually write about. Johnny has never been afraid to tackle hard subjects or express his raw emotion through his lyrics as shown in the song 1994. The song explains what Johnny went through during his parents bitter divorce and how it affected his life. Other songs such as Shame, Shame, Shame are more light hearted telling the story of a married man chasing a younger woman.
In 2007 Johnny moved to Los Angeles and is now working for Producer Jed Leiber at Nightbird Recording Studios in Hollywood. This young musician couldnt be happier and more excited about whats to come in his career. Already growing a fan base in Orlando, Chicago, and Los Angeles, his future looks bright. Johnny continues to write and perform all his own material as a solo artist and looks forward to his future in L.A..
