It all started many years ago... When I was just a little boy, I had a teddy bear that went everywhere with me. I grew up (sort of) and still the bear went everywhere with me. I''m even older now, with kids of my own, and I still have that bear. As you could tell, that bear means a lot to me. So much so that the title track of my first CD is a song about him I wrote while in college. For a while, I was very serious about writing songs but all my friends said "the tunes were nice, but the lyrics were childish". Hearing how tough the music business was, and rather less than encouraged by my initial critics, I put that part of my life aside publicly, but kept writing privately.
All through the years, I kept singing in choirs, in folk groups at church, that type of thing. I recently became part of a christian vocal group called "Voices That Blend" that has released two CDs. This rekindled the spark.
Some time later, I was invited to a benefit by a friend of mine, Vin, where a famous children''s artist was playing. About halfway through the show, Vin turned to me and said "your stuff is as good as that!" This fanned the spark into a flame. Much thanks to Vin for believing.
"He''s My Bear" is the result of my "childish" lyrics and nice tunes. I stopped trying to be serious, and decided to do what I''m best at - having fun. I''m proud of it, but judge for yourself...listen to the clips.
