The album consists of 19 different artists, most of which hail from the Raleigh-Durham, Chapel Hill area in North Carolina. Locally Respected: Volume 1 highlights the culture of the Triangle''s underground hip hop scene. The compilation is the first in a series of albums featuring up and coming underground talent. Locally Respected: Volume 1 is produced entirely by ThaDVus1 ("The Devious One"). ThaDVus1 is the CEO and co-owner of Resonated Records. As a writer, emcee, and the primary producer for Resonated, DV has developed his musical style from a conglomeration of many different genres; including hip hop, funk, classical, jazz, electronic, rock, latin and soul. His musical background includes serious study of piano and music theory combined with the ability to program computers and create synthesizers from manipulating digital sound. In addition to production and studio work on Locally Respected: Volume 1, ThaDVus1 also contributes the all 13 instrumentals. The instrumentals reflect a strong influence of progressive electro-trance, fused with hip hop break beats.
