MP3 Lunatics On Parole - Life Sucks (And I Love It)

From ripping guitar leads to crunchy riffs, this cd runs the gauntlet of metal styles all fronted by the deep, dark voice of Kenny the Gardener

14 MP3 Songs
METAL: Heavy Metal, METAL: Metalcore

Details:
Their name is Lunatics On Parole and their lead singer is a towering madman! They might be Lunatics (and may even be on parole), but one thing for sure; these guys have an in-your-face, like-it-or-fuck off! Approach to their music----it''s loud and it rocks!

Consider first the band name. Then listen here to some of these song titles (not the least of which is the title song, then you''ve got ...): "Crusty
Monkey," "Can''t We All Just Get a Bong?", "Beer Run" and "They Ask Me Why I Drink." [Your friendly neighborhood metal CD reviewer pauses for a moment so the reader can consider.] Done considering? Or do you need more time/ You sure? OK> Good. Now, I''m certain that at this point you realize that Lunatics on Parole, a band I first discovered thanks to a stack of LoP flyers at Downtown Records at Little Rock, Arkansas, do not take themselves seriously. And that''s the whole fucking point. If you want additional evidence, just consider that the full phrase from the "Crusty Monkey" song is this: "crusty monkey jizz face." Does anybody else need convincing? Good. I hope not. Backing up all their silliness and blessed potheadedness, for which I give them much love, are groove-oriented slower tempo metal crunch and deathy but thankfully understandable vocals. After all, the lyrics are half the fun here. Lunatics on Parole are a welcome addition to the metal world with their celebration of the fucked-upness of life, their reveling in silliness and their overt love of everybody''s favorite green plant (no, I''m not talking about spinach, dumbass). Also, the album title, crazy though it may be, is also veritably brimming over with philosophical considerations. One detects there''s a brain behind this metal somewhere, too.

Lunatics On Parole debuted on a 1999 Aggro-Active-TuneUp -their rabble-rousing number "Pigs On Patrol" was awarded a spot on the KLFX Killeen Aggro playlist spending well over o month there. Now a kinder, gentler L.O.P. (yeah right), this time aided in the studio by the infamous Bill Kennedy (NIN, The Downward Spiral), is comin'' back atcha with "Can''t We All Just Get a Bong" which should''ve been the tack taken by Rodney King during the LA riots in the first place. "Can''t We All Just Get a Bong?" clocks in at (Surprise) 4:20... But would you really want it any other way? Spark it up at (Surprise) track 13 on the TuneUp...and keep an eye peeled fro behemoth frontman Kenny the Gardener, who''ll be all over the stage!

Lunatics On Parole...not exactly the most reassuring image, eh? Especially in the era of the Patriot Act, John Ashcroft and the questionably gained reign of George II. Not to fear, though, for while these Lunatics are, indeed, bent on mayhem, it''s only of a musical sort--for these Lunatics On Parole are a hard-charging rock & roll outfit hailing from Hollywood, California, that combines heavy music with thoughtful lyrics in a refreshing, compelling manner that''s winning fervent converts the length and breadth of this great land.

The first single from Life Sucks (And I Love It!), "Can''t We All Just Get A Bong?," received the most radio airplay yet of any Lunatics song...surpassed only by that of the second single, the insanely hooky "Marijuana." Larry Mac, host of KUPD Phoenix''s mosh-raking specialty show "Into The Pit," shares the rabid reaction of his listeners after their first exposure to "Marijuana": "My phones were going crazy for it even before the show started, from just the previous week''s spin alone! There were some [requests] coming in for it in other [times] at the station, as well. Great name, great song...great fun!!!" "Marijuana" topped the request list for "Into The Pit" that week, beating out such famed names as Danzig, Megadeth and hometown heroes Flotsam & Jetsam. And that''s not all: "Marijuana" remained firmly entrenched among the show''s Top 5 requests for six weeks. In addition, WJRR Orlando has played "Marijuana" every Saturday night...for three years! Notes WJRR DJ Vegas, "The show is definitely not the same without the hit ''Marijuana''!"

In the spring of 2003, the Gardener and his new band of merry men once again hit the road, touring the southeast and Midwest U.S. (including a lauded appearance at Milwaukee Metalfest XVII). In addition, the song "Drinking Problem" was used as soundtrack for a King Of The Hill motorcycle video in 2003, and a video for the title track of Life Sucks(And I Love It!) also features motocross riders getting wild during a Lunatics party/performance in the high desert of southern California.

In the words of former Album Network Aggro Editor Greg Sorrels, "The Lunatics are as original as they come and the sense of humor in their music is unsurpassed." So sit back, grab one of your favorites beverages (or other intoxicating substances), and welcome yourself to the world of Lunatics On Parole...your senses will never be the same!
